  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon cold unsalted butter
  • 6 medium apples (washed and sliced)
  • Optional: 6 oz. dark chocolate chips
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon oil
  • Optional: ½ cup chopped nuts


Instructions

  1. Prepare your apples by washing and slicing them into wedges. Set aside on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar and water. Stir gently until sugar dissolves. Simmer without stirring until it turns amber.
  3. Remove from heat and carefully stir in salt and heavy cream until combined. Mix in cold butter.
  4. Dip each apple slice into warm caramel sauce until fully coated and place back on the parchment-lined sheet.
  5. For an optional touch, melt dark chocolate with a bit of oil and drizzle over the caramel-coated slices. Add chopped nuts if desired.
