- 1 1/4 cups cold whole milk

- 1 cup chocolate batons or semi-sweet chocolate
- 1 tbsp milk (for egg wash)

Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Gradually add cold milk until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Flatten softened butter between parchment sheets into a rectangle and chill.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle; place chilled butter in the center and fold the dough over it.
- Roll out again and fold into thirds like a letter; refrigerate after each fold.
- Roll out the laminated dough again; cut triangles and place chocolate at the base before rolling tightly.
- Let shaped croissants rise until doubled in size, about one hour.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush with egg wash and bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
