  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 3 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp black pepper
  • Oil (for cooking)
  • Pitas
  • Lettuce (sliced)
  • Tzatziki
  • Tomatoes (sliced)
  • Red onions (sliced)
  • Feta cheese (crumbled)
  • French Fries (optional)


Instructions

  1. Puree onion and garlic in a food processor until smooth.
  2. In a stand mixer or bowl, combine meats and pureed mixture with spices; mix until paste-like.
  3. Marinate the meat mixture in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours (optional).
  4. Preheat oven to 325°F.
  5. Shape the meat into a log and place on foil-covered baking tray; wrap tightly in foil with skewer inserted.
  6. Bake for about 1.5 hours until internal temperature reaches 160°F; let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  7. Pan-fry sliced meat for added crispiness if desired.
  8. Assemble gyros in pita with tzatziki sauce and your choice of toppings.
