Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup kunafa dough (shredded phyllo)
- 2 tbsp butter (for kunafa)
- 2 tbsp sugar syrup
- 1/4 cup chopped pistachios
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth. Stir in cocoa powder, flour, and salt until just combined.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and smooth it out evenly.
- In another bowl, mix kunafa dough with melted butter and sugar syrup until fully coated. Press this mixture over the brownie batter to form an even top layer.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Allow them to cool completely before slicing into squares and sprinkling chopped pistachios on top.
