  • 12 tbsp red food coloring
  • 16 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract


Instructions

  1. For the cheesecake layer: Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C). Beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth, then mix in sour cream and eggs. Pour into a prepared round pan and bake for 40–45 minutes. Chill completely.
  2. For the red velvet cake layers: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Combine dry ingredients in one bowl and wet ingredients in another, then mix until smooth. Divide batter into prepared round pans and bake for 25–30 minutes. Cool completely on a wire rack.
  3. For the frosting: Beat together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until fluffy.
  4. Assemble the cake by layering red velvet cake and cheesecake alternately, finishing with frosting on top.
  5. Chill assembled cake in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving.
