Ingredients
For the Bread
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 large ripe bananas (about 1 1/2 cups mashed)
1/4 cup salted butter, melted and slightly cooled
1/3 cup applesauce or your favorite cooking oil
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
2. Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Prepare the Wet Ingredients
In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth. Add the melted butter, applesauce (or oil), brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
4. Combine the Batter
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture. Stir gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
5. Transfer to the Pan
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly.
6. Bake
Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.
7. Cool and Serve
Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
