Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup browned butter
  • 1 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 cups peeled and chopped apples
  • For frosting: 6 oz room temp cream cheese
  • 1/2 stick room temp butter
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden. Allow it to cool slightly.
  3. Sauté chopped apples in the same pan with a tablespoon of butter and cinnamon for about 10 minutes until tender. Let cool.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the cooled browned butter and brown sugar until combined. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well.
  5. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Gradually add to the wet mixture without overmixing.
  6. Fold in cooled caramelized apples gently before pouring the batter into the prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 35-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool completely before cutting.
  8. For frosting, beat cream cheese and softened butter until smooth; gradually mix in powdered sugar, then add cinnamon and maple syrup until fluffy.
  9. Spread frosting over cooled blondies, slice into squares, and serve.
