Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups egg noodles or diced potatoes

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and form into small meatballs.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and brown the meatballs for about 4–5 minutes until golden.
  3. In a large pot, melt butter and sauté diced onion, carrots, and celery for 5–7 minutes until softened. Stir in flour and cook for another minute.
  4. Gradually add beef broth while whisking to avoid lumps; bring to a simmer. Add nutmeg, salt, black pepper, and gently incorporate browned meatballs along with egg noodles or diced potatoes.
  5. Simmer for about 10–12 minutes until noodles or potatoes are tender.
  6. Stir in heavy cream; adjust seasoning as needed before serving.
