  • 4 oz cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 1 cup heavy cream (cold)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, salt, baking soda, and baking powder.
  2. In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add lemon zest and eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Fold in sour cream.
  3. Pour batter into a greased 9-inch round pan and bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown. Allow cooling before cutting into cubes.
  4. Toss diced strawberries with sugar and let sit for 10 minutes.
  5. Beat cream cheese until smooth; gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Whip heavy cream until soft peaks form and fold into the cream cheese mixture.
  6. Assemble the trifle by layering cake cubes, strawberries, and whipped cream mixture in a trifle dish or serving glasses.
