Ingredients
- 1 loaf Pasquier Sliced Brioche (17.6 ounces)
- 4 tablespoons butter (melted)
- 4 eggs
- 2 1/4 cups milk (2% or whole)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon zest
- 2 cups assorted fresh berries (such as blueberries and raspberries)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- Slice the brioche into 1-inch cubes and toast lightly on a baking sheet for about 5 minutes until golden.
- In a large bowl, combine melted butter with toasted bread cubes.
- In another bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and lemon zest until smooth.
- Lightly grease your baking dish and layer half of the bread cubes and half of the berries in it.
- Repeat layers with remaining bread and berries.
- Pour custard mixture evenly over layers; gently press down to submerge.
- Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes until set and golden on top.
- Allow to cool for at least 20 minutes before serving.
