Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 8 slices provolone cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté diced peppers and onions for about 5 minutes until softened. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until combined.
- Pack half of the meat mixture into a loaf pan. Layer with 4 slices of provolone cheese followed by the sautéed vegetables. Top with the remaining meat mixture and press down gently.
- Bake in preheated oven for 45-50 minutes until cooked through; add remaining cheese during the last 5 minutes to melt.
- Let rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
